A computer-generated news site, Google News aggregates headlines from news sources worldwide. Then, it groups similar stories together and displays them. A number of article links are displayed by Google New on a particular news story from around the world. Mostly, these articles are chosen and ranked based on freshness, location, relevance and diversity.
Today, news media websites receive most of its traffic via Google News. If owners of news based websites, blogs or website want to get rank in Google News, they need to make sure that the article URLs are unique, permanent and include at least three digits that do not resemble a year. If an article’s URL is reused, it may be difficult for it to crawl and categorize the stories properly. Also, the website’s owners can use News Sitemaps to submit articles with URLs that do not comprise of at least three digits. Moreover, for Google News to understand content properly, articles must use HTML text.
With Google News Sitemaps, publishers can specify stock ticker symbols for companies mentioned in individual articles. The use of these symbols helps it to identify the subjects of the articles in a better way. The date of the actual publication should be explicit. This can be done by placing the article date and time between the title and the body in the HTML. Fairly large size images must be used if the articles have images, and with reasonable aspect ratios and descriptive captions. It’s better to use JPEG format images for correct result.
